Real-time Data Sensors
Data from the rain, stage, pore pressure gages are collected at high rates (ranging from 10 hertz to 2 seconds) during rain events and every minute otherwise. Soil moisture is collected every minute. Data are transmitted by cell phone modem from the site to a USGS computer every 4 minutes. After transmission, the data are graphed and placed on a web server available to the public.
Although most of the hillslopes in the canyon were burned at moderate and high severity, much of the channel vegetation was not burned. Rain and soil moisture are measured on a burned hillslope 15 m above the channel sensors.
