Officials in Forest Falls California, have revised the list of fatalities from Sunday's flooding and debris flows which inundated this community located in a steep narrow canyon in the San Bernardino mountains. The road into town, blocked by mud and boulders was cleared late Monday and residents, campers, and hikers in the canyon were evacuated. Latest reports are that 1 person was killed, many injured, and 18 homes were destroyed. USGS scientist Doug Morton will be investigating the slides and will report his findings later this week.

Preliminary Report: July 12, 1999

Debris flows and flooding in the Mill Creek area of the San Bernardino Mountains, in southern California. Initial reports include 14 homes destroyed, 3 people killed, 1 missing, and 5 people injured. Heavy rains have caused flooding and mudslides in the area. Additional information will be posted when available.
